something new and unexpected is on the horizon!
Now that you have faced the Year of Darkpaw Avatars, what’s next? Let us tell you! Those who have participated in the Masquerades of Divinity event will have access to challenge the Godslayer, Roehn Theer, himself! It will be a winner takes all epic battle to the death when we unlock the Celebration Avatar Challenge: Roehn Theer Raid!

This is not just an unlocking of the same old Roehn Theer raid either, it is a reimagining of the original raid, which you’ll just have to discover and attempt to survive! During the battle with the Godslayer, players who choose to empower him for greater challenges will unlock more numerous and more powerful rewards upon his defeat. These include:
  • A set of new Charms
  • Returning weapons from the Masquerades of Divinity Avatar encounters
  • A powerful new Crossbow and Symbol
  • New craftable ammunition for bows, crossbows, and thrown weapons
  • Roehn Theer’s own legendary swords, both convertible from 2h to 1h versions
  • An increase to Raiders’ Ballads of Zimara: Supremacy buff
Adventurers who challenge all of the Avatars and Theer himself will also be able to earn two different mercenary appearances, the first of their kind in Everquest II.

This Raid will unlock on October 1, 2024, at high noon PDT and remain open through the rest of the year! Sharpen your blades, re-string your bows, and patch up all your armor! Oh, and be sure to take some friends along, you’ll be needing them!

Is the symbol a viable mage ranged (because most mages use 2 handed main weapon, meaning the secondary slot is taken) addition or did you just forget mages again?

Will this raid and the rewards be available on Varsoon?

don't worry not sure what I want for my inquisitor "A powerful new Crossbow and Symbol" hmm a wand would be ideal or a shield but... guess tanks will get to use a symbol its a new concept I think

This sounds like fun, and exciting for the raiders. I am only sad that non raiders will never get to see any of this fun content.
Based on my entry time to EQ2 (and inexperience at the time,) I was always sad that I missed out on the avatars. I hoped some day they would return so I could see them and enjoy the battles in their full glory. Fast forward and I will still miss out on them. :(
You create this fun content and lock out such a large portion of the population.

I will just say, that I wish somehow all these avatars and then the fun zone mentioned above, could be, somehow included in just one zone, with an area for each avatar and then a room for final mentioned above, where solo'ers could enjoy facing these amazing encounters and witness the very cool mechanics of it all. So many people are missing out on all that.

I will also leave the wish here, that the Roehn Theer images you post above, could be made into plushies for decorators, and that very cool floor into a house item. 🙏:)

Happy for the raiders...looks like it will be fun. Just a shame so many of us will have to miss this.

the fact its limited is a shame and would be nice if it was atleast confirmed to return at some point. Not all raid forces have had the best time retaining members since origins came out and might never see this fight to completion because of it. make it permanent addon we all want it and desire it its least yall could do for making the gu so skimp

"Adventurers who challenge all of the Avatars and Theer himself will also be able to earn two different mercenary appearances, the first of their kind in Everquest II." So.....does this mean that mercenary appearance changes are going to be a thing? PLEASE!

I'm not sure I understand this. mercenary appearances to me sounds like something that has been asked for about using older mercenaries to change the appearance of your current mercenary. I don't raid, I don't do heroics, but I thought mercenaries were more for solo content or filling spots in a group at best in older content. In a group or a raid, mercenaries would only be used for the buff and not actively used meaning no appearance item would be needed.

If I am understanding all that correctly, are you telling me, group or raid is the only way to earn a solo perspective reward?

I think many people forget. If you are a solo/duo player. There is an upper echelon limit to the gear you can get. Once you get all of the best solo/duo gear you have capped your characters gear threshold. A player that raids cant get by on solo gear alone. So there has to be a higher level tier of gear in order to complete that content. If you are a solo/duo player envious of higher level raid items then you will need to raid. High level raid items are likely not going to be available for solo/duo only level players.

There are plenty of solo players out there that could have gotten higher tier raid level items from the avatar event by just doing the solo quests for the currency but I still see many of them out there that dont have that many of the avatar items from the merchants.

Now, a large portion of guilds that participate in raids have cleared every avatar in some form for that matter (the top 25 guilds that raid have cleared every instanced avatar). Including guilds that are Alliances that take on numerous people from many guilds. Instead of being negative about a content update, maybe take the initiative, open a dialogue with some of these guilds and see if you can join them on a raid or two.

Make some new friends. :)

A couple of interesting things in the announcement.
•“A new set of Charms” – It would have been real easy to simply say “New Charms” or “New Charm slot items", but specifically tossing in set opens up the possibility that it is truly a set with a set effect when wearing two, which would spark a lot of interest!
•What level of participation is required for access?
o Complete any daily mission from each avatar camp?
o Complete all daily missions from each avatar camp?
o Kill all instanced avatars?
o Kill all contested avatars?
o Some combination of the above?
o All of the above (Dear God please no!)
Inquiring minds want to know!
