The marketplace vault is changing!

Yeah; I'm not sure why they haven't done it since then, if they're so desperate for cash that they cut off just about everything from...the...Marketplace...

I am confused. But that's probably why I don't have a business-oriented job in the game industry... X-P

It's pretty obvious why they haven't repeated it. Desperate is probably the correct word here. Selling those lifetime subs was a means of grabbing a large chunk of cash quickly. Great in the short term not so great in the long term. They now have a large chunk of people playing for free with full member privileges. That's not great for the bottom line.

I was in the process of trying to decorate another place and I needed specific items that cannot be "player built". These items have been on the marketplace for a long time but are not purchased since they won't work in all decorating ideas. But the items were NOT available now. This happened so many times I left the zone I was decorating and said forget it. I am sure I am not the only one that decorates that is having to do the same thing. This is a very bad idea, and it is backfiring on DB.

I've seen websites online (not here on the forums, where, y'know, the ACTUAL CUSTOMERS ARE) where there's nothing but hate for EQ2, how it ruined everything they loved about the EQniverse (mentioning many things that put me in mind of the complete OPPOSITE, as in why I love THIS game and not EQ1), with the most rational, not-so-much-foaming-at-the-mouth folks saying, "Well, they could've fixed the numerous issues with EQ1, and some they did, but not in the right way," or whatever, and now Jenn is talking to folks at trade shows and in interviews about the future (EQ Next coming back? everyone's firmly convinced that they don't wanna call it EQ3, because of us here [if you love this game, jump online and refute those jerks!])... :-/

Will we still have enough staff here, or are we ever going to see these items again? :(

Another bad idea returning? If EQ Next was so great, why did it end after a very short run. Because it wasn't so great. FIX what you have. Players come and go all the time. They return then they leave and they return again hoping to see improvements. I have invested over 20 years in Everquest and I will NOT be spending more money on a new game. Period! I will stay here or stop gaming. Enough already.

My main issue is the arbitrary changes, taking away what was offered, like the perks for membership and the years being a player of the game. I also dislike the attitude that brought those changes. In real life not everyone can own a Lamborghini, and if you really want one, you have to either work really hard for it, be lucky to be born into being able to have it or just plain lucky. The things we used to get, made the incentive to subscribe a lot more rewarding and sweeter. I understand the game doesn't have a ton of subscribers and their existence has to be justified by bringing revenue and streamlining, that's why I posted earlier about different things they could do, mostly get creative about it and not by taking away. Eliminating stuff that was there is just going to anger the customers, and more will just leave because trust is broken. There are some things I would rather just pay for than deal with the hassle of not having it or having to go through a lot of annoyance to get or do it. Also, there is actual good work and there's shoddy work, and I've seen some things that don't look like too much effort, care or imagination was put into it, but artificial difficulty is achieved by throttling or tricks to give the illusion it is good work.

There was an ad awhile back, I don't even remember precisely what it was for now, some business for business thing or whatever, but it was trying to make a good point, and may even have been initially released during one of those Super Bowl "coming out parties" for the latest/greatest Madison Ave. debutantes:

Bunch of Suits are standing around a table in a conference room, all goggle-eyed, going "OOOoooh!!!" at a glowing sword stuck in a stone, or the table, or just hovering in mid-air.
[awed voice from one dude:] "What is it? =8-0"
[another dude:] "It's the Sword of Cost-Cutting!"

Giant meme font overlying everything, suddenly: THERE IS NO MAGIC COST-CUTTING SWORD. INCREASE REVENUE.

all the nice housing items are vaulted, there is very little left, most i wouldn't waste my cash on
I'll tell you this for nothing, if WoW does halfway decent player housing like they're muttering about, and comes up with a crafting class that makes furniture, I may just look into that game again. Their Marketplace has always been way better.

I looked at the preview of housing.

It looks like they took the worst aspects of FFXIV and shoved them in, so I have no interest. And I doubt they add a TS that makes furniture. They'll probably do what ESO does and shove the patterns in across all existing ones.

Noticed this when I recieved a 10% off Coupon for E. Day items. That most of the items listed on the coupon weren't even in the MP for purchase. The fact that the coupon is for a holiday event and then its temporary is rough enough, but to go and search for something you may like on the MP to find that it like so many other things simply are now gone. So coupon is gonna rot in my characters bag while I wonder what DB was thinking when they removed the MP items and didn't return those that needed to be there, once again for a holiday. I did feedback on this the last holiday. Please make sure the items for the holiday, that are only available for that holiday are placed ont eh Market Place for us to purchase during that holiday.

I've passed this info to the game team, thank you for letting us know.
