🤨This mess is on all servers, what the hell my level 50 mage is moving at a snails pace inside an instance, because she is using one box instead of all bags, so she walks everywhere, shish.
I's to late for an April fools prank, I hope this is just a mistake. 🙄

We wish it were. Also, understand, it's not just using a strongbox in place of a backpack or bag, but having one *inside* a bag will apply the speed restriction. Call to Guild Hall or one of the main cities and dump it in a bank asap.

There are times when I wonder if Darkpaw is trying to end this game. They ignore easy, money-making opportunities, like holding sales during major sale days, and when people get paid, then they come up with stuff like bundles of familiars and expect people to pay real cash in hopes of getting a useable familiar in the bunch and not duplicate familiars that have to be destroyed. There are a lot of things that would make anyone who took business courses wonder what is going on as they defy business logic. This is one of those things that make me scratch my head and wonder what Cracker Jack box the decision maker got their business degree out of.
That's the thing though. They don't teach Economics in school anymore. hehe...

I know that I just forgot to mention that I have to look if I still have my harvest bock in one of her backpack.
The only reason I went on her, is because she is my level 83 tailor and I wanted to level her up so she can make some 48 slotted backpacks.

It's been like this on the Origins server since it started. This is being applied to Live.

Because Qeynos, Freeport, and Neriak are completely self-enclosed city zones. Kelethin, New Halas, and Gorowyn all happen to be part of a significantly larger zones that would be easier to exploit the movement speed. It sucks either way.

Seems to me back at start that monks had to keep their carried weight at a certain level. Under 5 stones? Or they would become encumbered. Is this all a callback to that kind of situation? I agree, it sucks.

That was in EQ1, and it's still capped at 30. Here in EQ2, the class progression system meant that brawlers never had such limitations, having the strength to carry the boxes gave early-game fighters a massive advantage.

EQ1 = start. Thank you for confirming.

The rest, plate fighters have the advantage of being able to equip the plate. I don't see that as being encumbered, it's part of what sets them apart.
Will that weight be added to the ability to carry boxes now, adding that into the code? I'm sure that it won't stack. Seems like a bit of time spent when it could have been spent elsewhere.

Thank you again.

Again, it is not weight added back, but a cheesy speed debuff for having the strong boxes. When they (Caith) were trying to unwind the spaghetti code to create the Origins servers, they were unable to reintroduce actual weight. Strongboxes causing the speed debuff were an attempt to simulate that original look/feel. Now, it has arrived for everyone else, in preparation for a special Bank Only box that will eventually be added. His words, not mine.

It's not weight being added back, it's a flat speed debuff applied to everyone who steps outside of Qeynos, Freeport, Neriak, or guildhalls with one in your inventory. Fighters included. Even if it actually was weight again, fighters would still be unaffected, because Strength became the primary stat for fighters a long time ago.

The point - it still took coding time that could/would have better spent elsewhere.

😖😒😞 why, why ,why, that is just dumb to do that to regular servers.

sounds to me like an excuse, after they messed up their programming.
The thing is, it was intentionally done. They tossed it into the test update notes on a Friday. Was questioned in two separate threads with no response, then they shoved the garbage onto live. Then Caith said that on Discord when the rants began. I agreed with others who said then just when you do bring in that bank-only box into the game, just flag it as bank-only, and done. But no, mess many people's gameplay for who knows how long before that eventual arrives. Trashy move on their part.

o well maybe he only wanted to promote the busyness for tailors. 😏

And wipe out one of the reasons for Carpenters to exist?? :-/

Does Caith not like decorators? There doesn't seem to be as much of a call (or wasn't) for nice house layouts as there was for useful Strong Boxes. :(

And frankly, WHO CARES if the weight thing wasn't reproducible (we also don't have subcombines any more, thank the gods!)?! Who asked for this?? 🤬

That's kind of the impression I got; if so, why not just do that on those two servers? Why punish the rest of us? :(

WE on Origins didnt ask for this..... this is the way its Been since Origins released. We have been dealing with this since day 1 here as part of the servers ruleset. No clue as to why they thought this would be a thing to do to All servers.
Sign me as perplexed as everyone else.
