So what is the plan?

Given they can't even make simple bug fixes and haven't patched the server for months, I don't think it's something worth thinking about. This server will be dead by the time KoS is a month deep.

A bunch of people will consume KoS in a month and stop playing, but they do that with every MMO/xpac

You know the contagious effect when someone yawns? Others most likely have to yawn also.
Same with your unbearable pessimism! Origins bad, blah blah. Will be dead soon, blah blah. Not worth it, blah blah.

Maybe you are right, maybe not. But for gods sake, stop infecting others with your negative mindset!

Dont like it? GO AWAY! Yes, its really THAT simple.

It's ironic because this is literally what's been happening.
Have SOME left? Yes, there was the beta for the expansion and now a new expansion released, so of course there are those who left to do that. But it is FAR from a ghost town or bereft of players who are, ostensibly, enjoying themselves on the server. There might have been a bigger thinning in those who got to max level in a month or less, but they were never the whole server. It's really nice seeing others running around the cities and their neighbourhoods, too.

How many times at Fippyfest did they say this was a TLP, not a TLE, that will forever stay in KOS? It's ProjectSummer2006.

I understand why they said they're leaving the door open after the backlash from people that didn't understand the point, but it never sounded sincere, understandably.

I imagine them opening PvP on it before they'd consider releasing EoF when everything changed.

Unless you were there and it was in conversations that were not recorded in any way, find a quote in one of videos and post the timestamp and video link.

TLP is EQ's equivalent of EQ2's TLE. TLP = Time Locked Progression

Even if someone called Origins a TLP, only ONE of the EQ TLP servers, Agnarr, is locked at a specific set of expansions. All other TLP servers, unlike TLE, are intended to progress through ALL the expansions until they hit the current expansion on Live before being merged into a Live server. There is even an unlock schedule to Live for Oakmyst, Teek, and Torment, the last three TLP servers that were launched. EQ has several active TLP servers, far more than the few TLE that EQ2 has. Of 10 TLP (all those requiring All Access and not on the current expansion, Laurion's Song), only 1 is locked at a specific expansion.

(and yes, the EQ server I play on is Firiona Vie. I started on that server about a month after it launched. I took a break from EQ when EQ2 launched and a break from all gaming in 2013/14 to return to mostly EQ in mid-2020 and now back to EQ2 mostly with Origins.)

Surely you cannot be referring to this list right here. Which would literally be editing variables.. in formulas.. that already exist..

Surely you cannot be citing these as the massive changes.

An intern could do these in a few hours. An intern probably did in 2007...
That's assuming that devs in 2007 did not hardcode numbers in when implementing the changes.

As both a coder and DB developer, I don't understand their reluctance to make necessary changes; but, I also cannot see the code, database and long-term plan/roadmap. Finally, if it were truly simple variables in formulae, the devs would most likely not be able to unilaterally make the changes; most likely, they would need management permission to do so.

Further, they may be using an internal test server to study the impact of these changes and decide not to implement them due to broader impact on game play. It's a 20+-year old code base that has had a lot of people working on it and coding practices have changed in that time.

While I believe that it should be fairly easy to make some changes, I'm not assuming that it actually is because of the arguments above.

Or, provide constructive feedback in hopes that enough people have the same problem to get the company to change.

Seriously, though. Constructive feedback should be considered a good thing to business owners; at least, when I've owned or managed businesses in the past, that's the way I've approached it. If a customer complained just to complain, then I would entirely ignore their message.

The key on that is CONSTRUCTIVE.

It isn't at all constructive to berate the devs and make claims of a sweeping change would only take a few minutes for an intern without ever seeing the actual code (which very likely has absolutely no resemblance to code that's commonly used today since it's from over 20 years ago).

It isn't at all constructive to denigrate the play styles of anyone who doesn't enjoy the same play style you do.

It isn't at all constructive to make claims that "everyone" left or even to imply that everyone who matters left when they won't pivot to favour only your preferred play style.

It isn't at all constructive to demand changes to the fundamental core of the stated intent of the server that MANY are enjoying just because it doesn't suit your own play style.

Not saying that you, Gambitak, have done these, but it is pretty rife in this thread.

Love Origins, will be playing on it as long as they allow me. I'd love to see it go up to EoF, because as an altaholic I adore the added starting cities, but even if it doesn't go that far I will still be playing with my amazing guild on Anashti Sul until either the server or I am dead.

I havent come across on what they are going to do with Origins. Does it cut off at a certain expansion? We are having fun here and hope maybe they can retro fit the entire expansion list, as this is imho how the game should be played. I really loathe the "live" servers. Inflated out of control stats, confusing stats. Inflated plat etc. Dont get me started on the mechanics.
