I desperately NEED guidance on a house; it's one of the things that slows me up a lot*, when the swappee for a holiday house, for example, just says in their House Book:
"Have fun! :D"
"'Have fun'?! AIIGGGHHHHH!" (five different complete re-makes later, the house eating everything in sight, staring down the barrel of a deadline ["Can it be until 11:59 pm PST on The Day? 🥺"]...)

I try to be as specific as I can with my holiday requests, which can lead to people having to do research (on the other hand, I've gotten folks turned on [or at least exposed] to things like Doctor Who and Samuel Taylor Coleridge [thanks again, Whilhelmina! Still incredible! :D👍👍])...

And it's usually only four teleports to one house; eight is in Guild Halls, but you can unofficially (you didn't hear this from me... 🤫) "tweak" that a wee bit...I haven't, but there are -- articles...

Uwk
*(other than my rampant deep-seated OCD ["There's a SEAM...right...over...THERE..... Must...not...BE....."] and my use of the Layout Editors [mostly Sennen's] to those delightful eight digits 🤪)

P.S. And yes, as far as I know, it has to be 100, then 200; also, for some odd reason, the Marketplace ones at 100 and 200 do not stack with each other, so don't waste your money there, NyInc. What I do is buy or make the player-crafted 100 slot Expander, then buy a 200 one off the Marketplace and place them in that order. --U.

Tonight?

Wow! No ideas of what they consider fun? How well do you know them? I'm confused then again, I stay confused. I know the OCD well. Is there anything I can do to help?

8 only in guild houses. Booo! Hrm. Ok, how to do that. The huge project I'm working on.. 5 for 1 section alone. I was hoping it would be 8 for Prestige housing.

Does Sennen's require much math?

Thank you for the tips!

Hmm; I'd say, no more math than any other layout editing, but Mistal had a wonderful early guide I highly recommend (and not just because I co-opted it for the modern day ;->) that works even with Notepad (I don't think it works well with Wordpad; too many bells and whistles there, I think). :)

Basically, if you can figure out things like the coordinates for /way or /waypoint in the Chat Channel to get to someplace mentioned in the Wiki or, occasionally, on Lera's EQ2Furniture.com to locate things, you'll be fine. :) Basically, the first number, however large it might be (Gorowyn has four-digit numbers before the decimal point [or comma, if you're in Europe]), is North/South. The second number, however large, is up or down; negative numbers there mean really deep. The third is East/West. Once you start seeing the pattern(s), it's pretty easy, and other folks have done posts and threads on how to decorate (and how to sneak more Teleport Pads into an ordinary house; you're right, we should have eight for prestige houses), like Ocarinah's tile and divider placement, that kind of thing. I highly recommend keeping your on-screen Compass going; I think the default to toggle it is.......(scanning down the list)... /togglecompass. I can't remember atm what short-cuts I have for it; I usually don't shut it off, because it's just that useful. ;->

I prefer Sennen's layout editor simply because it's got a lot LESS of a learning curve to master than JesDyr's, though if you've seen some JesDyr videos, it's quite similar...except I thought I'd gotten the logic behind needing 87 different files for one layout, but I guess I haven't. Hence, Sennen's (though it can't do everything JesDyr's can; I have JD's around just for those things). With Sennen's, you can have the house you're working on open, and the program open with the open layout file, and /save_layout [whatever-name] and go back to Sennen's and it'll go, "Ah-ha! I see, ma'am/sir, that you've changed that file. Would you care for me to save it here now? :D" and I go, "Why, thank you indeed, kind program; I would." and everything goes fairly smoothly. It can lose accuracy more often than JesDyr's, but we're talking like not until it gets to several decimals way down the line after the point (or comma), so I'm not too worried there. Depending on the scale of the item, that's literally negligible. :)

As for how well I know my holiday Swapees, often it's the first time I've ever met them... :-/

And you're welcome! :D

Uwk

P.S. [I think it ate my previous P.S.; let's try this again...] If you realllly want to help, the next time we have a Holiday House Swap and you know I've signed up for it, please make your house request (for whoever, since it's all secret) a detailed one. Just in case... ;-> --U.

Well, ok.

but Mistal had a wonderful early guide

/waypoint
the first number is North/South
the second number is depth
the third number is East/West

Thank you for the pointers!

Could you come up with some sort of a basic questionare for them to give you a heads-up? Something quick and fun?
Get them a little involved with a slightly peaked personal interest? It might make the housing market boom bigger than it already is. If that's even possible.

Look at their character, are they a fighter, mage, priest, scout? That should help .. each one of those has a different personality. Maybe that will help get you started?

I've had some luck with folks, especially on Thurgadin; there was a player over there whose first language, I think, wasn't English, so they were careful about things...lemme see if I can find that really fast...

Ah! She said she was "a female Barbarian Templar," she wasn't sure if that was helpful, but "I hope you will surprise me !"

Sigh...at least it was just a simple 4-room Qeynos place (South Qeynos, I think), and the occasion was the three spring holidays (Erollisi, Brewday, Bristlebane's). I can't remember what possessed me to put stables and other pens for critters (mounts, pets, plushies, whatever she had; they were empty, but ready to go) in the back yard (the "fourth room"), but that seemed to work. The main room was Brewday; the upstairs bedroom was Erollisi Day (natch ;->), and the basement was, of course, for the messy chaos that Bristlebane can devolve to. ;->

That was a fun place! I figured a Barbarian would like a party, so that was kind of the theme. :) Lots of food, drink, party games, etc., with a bit of peace upstairs. :)

I've done that before with holidays, when there wasn't a lot of spelled-out inspiration. ;->

I do best with 2- and 4-room places (fortunately, apparently I'm the only decorator along those lines... ;->), and have often specified that in my sign-ups; there have been times I've only done like 2 to 4 rooms in a bigger place, but that's usually with folks I know. ;->

EDIT: Ah! Found Ye Olde 2018 HHE place:

The Thurgadin places start at post #12, but they're all really incredible. And just like in Harry Potter (paraphrased): "Remember. Every single witch or wizard we've ever heard of, got started the same way we did. As students."

I still have a hellaciously long way to go, and there's folks I could never compete with, so I often don't try. ;-> But I like the Holiday Swaps... :)

Thank you. :D

You're welcome! :)

I'm guessing, the Expanders? If nothing else, yeah, that placement method does get the players who make them more gold (or plat), and is a guaranteed money-spinner on the Marketplace for DBG. ;->

The Great Mall of Norrath proudly present :

The Lollygag Lounge!
Maj'Dul Server
Sixxi's Vacrul Castle Home - South Freeport
Massive Homes - Newly Published

This has been a project I've been looking forward to completing for several months now, and has been an absolute delight to work on.
The main features are the Bar, Kitchen, Bandstand and Dance Floor, and of course, the Comedy Club which was pretty much the sole purpose of this project to begin with. Please be sure to check out the actors' names and dialogue, as a lot of them have names that are words that I find either hilarious or charming. There is also a movie reference in each of the rooms, if you care for a "side quest" while visiting. ;)

Excited to add yet another entry to my ever-expanding Mall series! 🥰

The Green Mile can be found under Medium Homes / Newly Published or by visiting Dandey's Sprockets Interlocking Plane in South Freeport.

This project is one I've had in mind for several years, and pays homage to one of my favorite books by one of my favorite authors, as well as the movie based on that book.

Please see the book at the front for notes about spoilers upon visiting!
