It's so much fun, it's un-bear-able!
The Hua-Mein have no time for their tasks, and they humbly request you do them! Venture to The Sundered Frontier and find Bao Bao, Yun Zi’s grandchild and budding botanist, to get started. There will be a new task unlocked once a week for 9 weeks, culminating in a reward from Pas Yu.

New Items on the Merchant
Panda, Panda, Panda quests will be available after scheduled downtime and will remain in the game once they become available, so take your time and have fun!

Armor and Adornments
These quests are only available to All Access members. To participate in this event which is full of Panda-monium join our All Access membership program.

I love panda quests. And I am fine with the event being pure fluff, not giving anything besides furniture and cosmetics.

But, if you put the actual gear there, make it wanted and desirable. Or useful at least. Otherwise, why bother? What is the point of the runes we have there this year? You can get all of them with chrono currency already. And I do not know a single person in the game who actually uses this particular set of runes. And level 505 weapons? Hm..the fabled dungeons we just had drop 525+. Solo.

In all fairness, you have to actually GET to 130 first.

Then after that, Tishan's only gives 465.

The current max Overseer rewards (Season7-B "Scarred Minion's") gives 475 (but those take time to farm whole sets if you're just recently starting out in Overseer or a returning player behind the times)

505 is a pretty decent bridge to get new players to be able to participate more effectively in their own initial Fabled [Solo] instances to start earning that 525 you mentioned, and you get them almost immediately with very little in the way of "work".

Since the Panda quests unlock some account-wide things as well, seems like a decent step for getting alts up and running at 130 as well for not a whole lot of effort, that is if you don't want to waste bank space saving all those hierloom 525 drops or Overseer loots for when alts eventually reach 130... someday

In all fairness this late in the expansion everyone should be at 130 with the exception of a few stragglers or returning players....505 gear is not cool or desirable and the adornments are lackluster. We wait all year for this Panda event, and it is fun but there is nothing of particular use this year. I see we have some unknown reward after completing all of the quests...hopefully it isn't lame as lame as the rest of the rewards seem to be. Honestly the developers should be adding value, there is no value here.

Just an fyi:

The runes - even if given for free in the free gear box are not something anybody would ever use because they are totally useless and have been for years....

am I missing something with the panda merchant? I see the runes (4?), 4 weapons ... and then the 9? rucksacks with decorating stuffs. Where is the rest of the stuff we usually get on panda? is it progressive unlocks that will only show up after you finish a quest?

There are two Panda merchants. One with the newer stuff which doesn't have that much and another merchant with all the past items on it. Looks like you were just looking at the one with the newest stuff.

it just shows week 1 panda items other than the rucksacks it shows all 9 weeks. When week 2 is released it will show week 1 and 2 items plus the 9 weeks or rucksacks so on so forth for next 8 weeks

is this confirmed? or speculations? Other years, the equipment were visible from the start of the event, there were no progressive unlocks on the merchant.

And if the progessive unlocks were confirmed, shouldnt it be stated in the announcement?

Edit: it is confirmed that there is progressive unlocks

I've not done Panda quest last year as the reward were useless for any my alts, and so far I see no reasons to catch up and do this year quests. After talking about with friends I realized many have not done it last year too.

Which would be easier for next year's Panda event to have: crafting tables made to look like they were made by a Gnome, Ogre, or Vah Shir, etc? Or music boxes?

They would have to make tables that look like they were designed by ogres and vah shir, but that's a fun idea. At least there's the Maldura ones.

Given how many crafting tables there are at this point, would it be better for this to be done for the also mentioned music boxes instead?

"culminating in a reward from Pas Yu"

Is there something I am missing or is it just the same set of items as every year?

Unfortunately, most will be worthless in less than 3 weeks if you're in the next expansion. A bit disappointing to say the least.

I love the panda stuff, even if most of it isn't useful to me at the time. It's a nice little break and (imho) fun little side stuff. I really don't get why people expect a 'filler' group of quests to give gear and so on that's equal to or better than what you get doing the actual xpacs. Oh well, guess I'm just strange.

I'm baffled. Exactly what kind of mega gear are people expecting from a trivial little 15 minute retrieval quest?
Well, it took 15 min, 9 times to get nothing usefull, and it only take 30 to 35 minutes 1 time to get all relic and cb oc, or double slot from solo zone with the extra life event.
