Introducing the Heralds of Oblivion!

Omg THANK YOU - SoD is bloody awful honestly. Those flying insects are just a PITA and having done the questlines on one Feb there's no way I'm touching it with any of the others. Worse zone ever. And as for the WHO WHAT (evah) hand thingies - boring, just boring AF. /goes back to her book (The Wandering Inn series - LitRPG - you should try it!)
Yep. I don't do zones past 100 but I always felt that way about Cobalt Scar. Between all the agro ground mobs and the flying snakes you can't even see for the trees it's a nightmare. I slam through the crafting line asap and then never go back.

It is still astounds me that some people want nothing to do with fighting. Like at all. Even if all it takes is to press one button.
I can totally understand not wanting to have to fight. As someone who plays her characters in character, there are times when fighting would be out of character and I'd rather avoid it if I can. I can also understand having a preference for crafting over fighting, especially if someone got involved with the game primarily for the crafting and decorating. I enjoy both adventure and crafting, but not necessarily at the same time all the time. I like variety. There are times when I see the fighting as an inconvenience, something I have to do in order to do what I really want to do, which might be crafting, might be getting a particular loot item or quest reward, or might be completing a story line, either to open something up, to have my character finish a thing they would in-character finish, or just to see how the story turns out. I have a friend who doesn't enjoy fighting unless it's a challenge, so I understand there are people who prefer that, but personally, I like being able to one-shot mobs, since for me, the fighting is usually the means to an end rather than the end itself.

I haven't really had to fight to complete stage 1 of the prequil as I let my merc do the work while I collect filaments. The only complaint I have, concerning the event, is about collecting the filaments. Some of them say they are too far away, and chasing them is hard on the hands as the delay between clicking the mouse, and it registering with the program, makes it hard to gather them. They either need to be slowed down or stay longer when they stop.

Is this Faction based again? Frankly I'm Sick of Faction events. It make it impossible to do them with all of my characters. I just don't have that kind of time anymore. I want Prelude to go back to event themed currency like it used to be!

*And I agree, Crafters shouldn't have to Battle, and Adventurers shouldn't have to Craft! There should be ways for Both to take part by only doing it their way!

Then go get your themed currency already. Rather surprised you haven't logged in to see for yourself after the event has been live for two weeks.

But still seem to have enough time to whine about something that isn't even an issue.
It didn't sound like "whining" to me. And it doesn't take long to write a comment as compared to running your characters through the prelude event. I have 5 minutes. I can write a comment. But I need an hour or two to get one of my characters through the prelude; can't do that right now.

That was a very clear tirade against faction events in a situation where faction is totally irrelevant. 'Does this event involve faction?' would have been the quick time-saving comment.

I figure if they don't have much time to play, they might not have much time to refine their posts, either. Also, I suppose they might have wanted to get the message to someone about their dislike of faction grinds. I should probably stop arguing about this, though; it saves neither time nor words. Happy playing, all!

There is no faction involved this time. This seems to alternate year after year. One year faction, following year currency.

Every year since 2022 (Secret of the Sands) they have been Faction based.
It would be nice if the quests that give faction from the timed events return once every year. Players who haven't created their characters yet or haven't had time to complete all the quests may have a chance. It could come with the Heroes Festival event, giving us the same opportunities as everyone else...

Honestly, I soooo prefer it faction based.
It's much easier to grind 50k faction with 1 character and buy 900 of everything for 50gold than it is to grind thousands of special currency (which is obsolete as soon as expansion launches) to buy the same amount of items

If the last few expansions prelude merchant was faction based, that merchant or items from him got moved to a merchant in that expansion. I know it's the case for Scars, Ballads, I think Rajdur has the prelude merchant too and don't remember previous ones, those might be the ones not faction based. I still got silly remnants of currency on main toon.
The merchants in expansion are then switched to expansion faction, but you can still get that and buy items.
The none faction based prelude depend on how much currency you grind up, you can only buy so much and hope those items show up again in next prelude

I so badly want the Barbed Pegasus to come back so my newer characters can get it. I hate that most mounts are limited to that year only.
