Suggestion How do we make Daybreak Games financially successful?

Try the bee hive one. I play a Paladin.

If you run through mobs, they aggro and slow you down.
Ok, Kenn, I did Eryslai: The Bixel Hive [Heroic]. Yes, the mobs slow you down, because once there is aggro you are immediately in combat, and running while in combat is slow. I also went to Charasis: Maiden's Chamber in Jarsath Wastes, which while not listed as heroic, was a group instance back when it came out. I trained a bunch of mobs there, and while that did not put me in combat, they rooted me several times so I could not move. The pre- and post-100 mechanics may be different, but the end result is the same: you are expected to kill the trash mobs in instances made for groups.

As for killing the nameds in Bixel Hive -- I managed to do it. I died once, my healer merc died several times. For me as a necro, the key is having enough dps to kill the named before Bulwark is needed. As a paladin, you can cast Bulwark and avoid the instant death, but paladins are not known for dps. The nameds hit pretty hard, and as I recall a paladin's healing skills are limited and require a lot of power, and the nameds also did some mana drain. As a necro, I managed because I can self-heal and replenish my own mana. Since my healer merc died so much, I ended up healing myself a lot.

So I think whether the older heroics can be soloed comes down to class. Some classes do better than others. But that has always been the case, even in solo content. I have a wizard starting SoD who is dying in the first instance, because she is squishy, gets all the aggro, and the healer merc can't keep up with the damage she takes.

I went in at level 130, it should have been a trivial run.
I went in again as level 130, mobs were grey, none aggroed on me. Maybe as a tank you have high hate gain that makes them aggro on you?

I killed the first 3 nameds, did not bother continuing. They were harder to kill than I think a grey mob should be, and they still did a good bit of damage; my merc died again.

Hmm guess I don"t have the dps which is crazy at 130. Thanks for testing.

If they wanted an extra $15 from me right now they would add the Arcanna'se Effigy of Rebirth to the marketplace. Was included in the KA premium pack.
Oh, I agree! And the sad thing is, it was only ONE in the pack, not one per character. It is a great item, they should definitely bring it back!

Personally, I don't understand the people that PTW. I pay a yearly sub. I buy things from the marketplace when I want to. I would be more inclined to do more if they went back to having quests out in the world that don't belong to the sig. line, as they were when this game first came out. I have to say, DB already gives us perks for logging in every day.

Not sure why they should give us more.

I agree wholeheartedly with the people that say they would buy more stuff if it wasn't so expensive. I am more apt to buy something for 5-10 bucks than 40 bucks when it doesn't have things in it I want or need.

If I was in charge, then I would put the hammer down and make EQ3. Fully updated graphics, fixed anti cheat currency, take note of what worked well and what didn't. Bring Everquest back to the forefront of the gaming world. With World of Warcraft a has been, now is the perfect time.

I think unfortunately, the situation is that there simply aren't enough developers for all this stuff we want. Daybreak, the shareholders, or whoever controls the money, is apparently not willing to invest in the game to bring it back to its former glory. I think the developers are expected to release an expansion every year because that's what the shareholders demand.

Years ago, many people already said they'd be willing to skip a year or two if it meant getting a truly great expansion in return. But the developers just don't have the time — or there simply aren't enough of them — to create more content beyond the current gameplay.

The devs are trying to make the best of the situation. I believe there have been enough posts from players over the past few years clearly stating what they want and whats wrong in there minds. What’s really needed is a willingness from those funding the game to invest more money in development (and marketing). Maybe even crowdfunding would be worth a try...

And the fact that the current developers could do much more with more time is evident just from their increased experience. If you compare, for example, Sodden Archipelago with Antonica — purely in terms of world-building — the difference is like night and day.

Someone remeber the time there was an ingame poll on what the players want to see in the game? If they (the people in charge) truly wanted to, then why dont they keep doing things like this? Why do they keep adding features that nobody wants — or even ones the majority has already said they don't want? I can already see the next round of Ascension spells coming...
So many questions…

Maybe just add more items to the marketplace, I've been sitting and waiting for a while now for a mount to show up I actually want, instead each rotation its like here's 1 ground mount and 2 fliers, like 3 mounts seems a bit tiny option wise, I'm sure there are other categories with similar problems.

I don't think they have anyone with a marketing background, much less listen to feedback. I'd posted in the forums for years on occasion that if you want to make money, make the desirable stuff less expensive. When you have an item for $100 bucks, not that many people are going to buy it. When you sell it for $10 bucks, the cash registers start ringing. That's especially true in the current economy. Unfortunately, DBG hasn't shown a lot of interest in listening to that logic. It's the old saying, "you can lead a horse to water..."

They could sell fugurines of the varous named. There could be special raid mob figures that you can only buy once you kill the raid mob, and they are numbered and limited.

I remember a game before there was a marketplace, if they wanted your money before that the focus was on the game itself making it the best quality best content that captured your attention. now the game is just a front for the marketplace. it's really sad I would rather see them up the price of their sub and take out the marketplace and the F2P completely.

more sales on all sorts of stuff how about start of a new xpac a spell research sale of 20-50% off since everyone when its a new level cap want to spend money to ancient there spells would make people want to spend more on mains and alts. Add a loot rarity chance booster to the marketplace so we can spend money to get that rarity boost we only get when its the charity event maybe even a double loot booster item that lasts xyz zones, maybe more varieties and styles of house depots instead of these ugly wooden crates. more unique and better quality artwork on the shop merch i mean comon you limp wristedly slapped on a blurry low res class icon on a shirt and want $20+??? when you could make cooler shirts of nagafen or a dungeon or some funny quotes and memes

4 pages and not a single official reply. I don't think DBG cares and I don't think people understand how large corporations work.

For example, being a small percentage of their revenue, EQ2 probably rates a few minutes at a meeting where the managers and board discuss direction for the next FY for several hours. As DBG determines where development and investment dollars will offer the biggest return, given EQ2's low community involvement (worldwide, not necessarily per customer), I'm guessing that the company will prioritize larger earning potentials.

However, for argument's sake, let's assume that they want to implement all the changes offered here: How much will it take to reprioritize implementation and fit it into the next FY release cycle? Or, do the people who play this game think that their influence can be effected real-time, or close to it? It would be my guess that FY 2026 is fairly cemented, and 2-year, 5-year and 10-year plans (I'm being optimistic here, on purpose) are already created and being finalized as 2025 speeds towards 2026.

I think the point of these 4 pages of post is that people are unhappy with the Direction it is going. Its clearly on the decline. Like i said previously I'm only raiding now as i have ZERO interest in the GU nonsense and the hotzone nonsense. Nearly 2/3 of the raid team aren't on anymore. The fact there is no feedback from anyone regarding the issues in the game or when / if anyone is even looking into the issues raised. We do however get regular feedback on new Marketplace crates and house items for sale. I get that the game needs to make money and survive but if nobody's playing anymore to go look at the house items or be impressed with the new guy that has the 50% mount buff then it will all end and end very quickly.

Last year we had the Avatars and a H3 to run to keep us quiet. This year we have run the same thing for the 1000th time to get the same loot you didn't want or need in January. As for the 2 year plan? i really dont think id bother looking that far ahead. haha

Hi everyone! I'm a returning player from about ten years ago, this is a new account, I was very excited to return especially since long hairs are now available to wood elves! This has been a long awaited featured for me so I overjoyed to find the Freeblood hairs available to more races. However I am GUTTED by the what happened to the marketplace. I was going to subscribe again and repurchase some of my favorite appearance items for my new account and now I can't????
Do you not want my money Daybreak?

Reading this thread I very much agree with the points presented, the item shop should be attractive what you are currently presenting IS NOT. I also play another fantasy mmo that has rotating items in their cash shop but in that shop they also have staple items that NEVER leave and they have enough of them to please players.

You completely stripped your marketplace!! Now there's next to nothing to spend money on lol... You say there will be new items added, I sure hope they are coming soon and worth the sacrifice.

BTW: Loosing one single player with allaccess membership costs 120 USD a year plus additional expansion pack fees.

So it would be nice not to frustrate players to quit ;)

Remove the cash shop entirely. Make good content. Also, remove the mindset that players need to pitch ideas to a company on how to charge us more money. We already pay more than we should.
