Now that we can get tradeskills past level 9-10....

I was not here at launch...or should I say 2006, so I am not sure how it worked then. Was there someone that could give TS quests back then to help us get some experience through the levels after level 10?
Also, what was the best way to get advanced books after level 10?

I had asked in chat and people said there was no quests after 10, and no npc selling books...currently. Does that mean there was not then, and will not be going forward for origins?

Training up TS levels is already a slow and sometimes grueling process. I truly hope there is something more than crafting random items over and over to help that out. Notwithstanding the "original ways" which people seem so strict about, I can say for myself personally, I don't think I will last long on origins if there isn't some way to get levels outside of cluttering already small bags.

I really am enjoying the slower pace and the burbs. It's really nice. I just hope crafting can be more enjoyable with more purpose and more variation.

Also, was it intended to not add the three extra crafting buttons for your non-specialization after level 10?
Getting tired of making every counter perfect, no mistakes, and still getting non pristine (losing slots, quantities, stats, etc. And losing valuable rares.)

It really was that difficult to level back then. None of the quests for recipe books were even a glimmer of an idea at that point.

Advanced recipe books from 10 and up were also rough to get as they were mob drops, and at least for the first couple of tiers, the level of the mob matched the level of the book. So to get a level 11 advanced book, you had to find a level 11 mob and convince it to drop the right thing.

I am pretty sure that is a bug and should go in the bug forums that the durability reaction arts are missing for out-of-class recipes. That way they can be checked in the Origins database to see when those were added, etc.

I'm not sure if it was a level 11 mob I killed, but I did get a Level 11 Outfitter book the other day on beta while working to get level 10 on my de-illy. I've also gotten several of the Artisan advanced books as drops, especially on the Freeport side, in the low-level areas around Freeport. But the Artisan advanced are also available for purchase from the trainer as they are on current Live.

But, I do have memories of how hard it was to get both the advanced books and rare harvests back in the day.

On Beta now, I've also gotten a lot more rares than I remember seeing back in 2004. The increased harvest rate is definitely not the 2004 level but I don't recollect when it was improved, i.e. if the multiples per pull were pre-2006. But, I think what we have on Beta is a decent rate at least for T1. I haven't started looking for T2 harvests (getting my de-illy to betrayal was a little higher priority :) ).

Advanced books drop quite commonly. I looted my own 10 and 12 and bought 11 off the market. I've put around 10 advanced books on the market so I've personally looted far more than I can use.

Levelling up at least at these low levels doesn't take much, just craft max level items. It will get slower later on but I think there's tradeskill writs later on to help.

Apparently, the durability buffs for recipes outside of your subclass choice were not a thing until 2007, so we will have to struggle without them for anything not related to our chosen profession.

Not getting the arts/buffs for the other classes and specialties makes specializing a lot more meaningful. Even for 1-9 recipes, you have a reason to go to someone of another craft to make the rare combines because they will be less likely to fail. As a craftsman, I shouldn't be able to make a spell scroll of any level better than a scholar.

Yes, back in the Day, Crafting was difficult and challenging (arguably needlessly tedious and repetitive at times); however, the sense of accomplishment one got from success was much more meaningful and rewarding! A Specialist was indeed truly a Specialist you would go to get things done!
